Nintendo Switch system update to address battery indicator issue
Nintendo has launched a new system update for the Nintendo Switch. Firmware update 3.0.1 addresses an issue in which the remaining battery charge level on the Switch isn’t displayed correctly, or at all. The issue could cause the battery indicator to disappear, not update during charge or show zero charge while using the console. Personally I haven’t come across this issue, so unfortunately I could not replicate the problem, but it also seems that the issue is an isolated one.
The update may not resolve the issue and the bug may still be present even after the update. Nintendo has shared instructions for how best to resolve the problem, which in brief requires you to charge up and run down your battery multiple times to rectify the issue.
It doesn’t seem like there is an actual problem with the console per se, it seems to be more of a calibration issue and as such the Switch is not displaying the battery capacity correctly. But if you follow the steps above then it should resolve the problem. If not, then I would probably contact Nintendo.
